In the Room of Weapons (Sala de Armas) in the Citadel of Pamplona the exhibition “Senegal contemporary creation” can be visited between 28th November and 26th February; due to their abundant artistic events this country is the most important in avant-garde African art.
This exhibition has been possible by the collaboration between the city council of Pamplona, Kalao Panafricans Creations and the NGO Imprescindible Africa made up of Cooperación por la Paz Assembly, African Flower, Ipes Elkartea, Intermón Oxfam, Médicos del Mundo, Medicus Mundi, Nakupenda Africa, Proclade Yanapay and the local collaborators Foundation Alboan, Ateneo Navarro, Young People and Development and UPNA (Universidad Pública de Navarra)
These associations have been working for a long time trying to change the image that the rest of the world has about Africa, emphasizing specially the role of the women.
The objective of this exhibition in Pamplona is to transmit the richness of the contemporary African art exhibiting these authors’ work: Seyni Awa Camara, who had already exhibited in the Centro Pompidou in París and five artists who come from Dakar School: Ibrahima Kébé, Ndary Lo, Camara Guèye, Cheikhou Ba y Ndoye Douts.
